1 kilobyte (kB) = 0.9765625 kibibytes (KiB). To convert, divide by 1.024: KiB = kB ÷ 1.024. For example, 5 kB = 4.8828125 KiB.
KiB = kB ÷ 1.024

The two units
Kilobyte (kB). 1,000 bytes in the SI sense. Some software uses "KB" for 1,024 bytes, which is properly a kibibyte (KiB).
Kibibyte (KiB). 1,024 bytes (2¹⁰), the binary unit defined by the IEC in 1998.
Because both units are defined in terms of the same base unit, the factor 0.9765625 is exact, not a rounded measurement.
