1 kibibyte (KiB) = 1.024 kilobytes (kB). To convert, multiply by 1.024: kB = KiB × 1.024. For example, 5 KiB = 5.12 kB.
kB = KiB × 1.024

The two units
Kibibyte (KiB). 1,024 bytes (2¹⁰), the binary unit defined by the IEC in 1998.
Kilobyte (kB). 1,000 bytes in the SI sense. Some software uses "KB" for 1,024 bytes, which is properly a kibibyte (KiB).
Because both units are defined in terms of the same base unit, the factor 1.024 is exact, not a rounded measurement.
