1 kilobyte (kB) = 1,000 bytes (B). To convert, multiply by 1,000: B = kB × 1,000. For example, 5 kB = 5,000 B.
B = kB × 1,000

The two units
Kilobyte (kB). 1,000 bytes in the SI sense. Some software uses "KB" for 1,024 bytes, which is properly a kibibyte (KiB).
Byte (B). Eight bits. File sizes and memory are counted in bytes.
Because both units are defined in terms of the same base unit, the factor 1,000 is exact, not a rounded measurement.
