Key figures
| Value | Year | |
|---|---|---|
| Latest | 9.71 trillion | 2019 |
| Five years earlier | 10.74 trillion | 2014 |
| Highest | 10.74 trillion | 2014 |
| Lowest | 418 million | 1973 |
| Average since 2012 | 8.48 trillion | 2012–2019 |
| First recorded | 418 million | 1973 |
Over five years it is down 9.59% from 10.74 trillion in 2014 (2% a year on average, compounded). Since 1973 it is up 2.32 million% from 418 million in 1973 (24.43% a year on average, compounded). The World Bank has no value for 6 of the years in between; the chart leaves those gaps open rather than joining across them.
What the numbers say
In 2019, Myanmar's grants and other revenue (current LCU) rose 124.9% on 2018 (from 4.32 trillion to 9.71 trillion).
Across the 30 yearly changes before that (1982 to 2018), the average change was +18.1% and a typical year strayed about 29.2% from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 3.7 standard deviations above that average, so it was unusually large compared with the rest of the record.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was 124.9% in 2019 and the biggest yearly fall was 54.3% in 2018. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2012 to 2019 there is no clear straight-line trend: a straight line explains 4% of the movement over 8 observed years, so the value is moving around more than it is heading anywhere.

What this measures
Grants are transfers receivable by government units, from other resident or nonresident government units or international organizations, that do not meet the definition of a tax, subsidy, or social contribution. Other revenue is all revenue receivable excluding taxes, social contributions, and grants. This category of revenue includes property income, sales of goods and services, and miscellaneous other types of revenue. This indicator is expressed in current prices, meaning no adjustment has been made to account for price changes over time. This series is expressed in local currency units.
Limitations: For most countries central government finance data have been consolidated into one account, but for others only budgetary central government accounts are available. Countries reporting budgetary data are noted in the country metadata. Because budgetary accounts may not include all central government units (such as social security funds), they usually provide an incomplete picture. In federal states the central government accounts provide an incomplete view of total public finance. Data on government revenue and expense are collected by the IMF through questionnaires to member countries and by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
