Oman's incidence of tuberculosis (per 100,000 people) was 11 in 2024, the latest year in the World Bank's World Development Indicators. That is down 15.38% from 13 in 2014 (1.66% a year on average, compounded).

What the numbers say
In 2024, Oman's incidence of tuberculosis (per 100,000 people) fell 3 on 2023 (from 14 to 11).
Across the 23 yearly changes before that (2001 to 2023), the average change was −0.48 and a typical year strayed about 2.41 from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 1.0 standard deviations below that average, so it was larger than a typical year, though not out of the range seen before.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was 5 in 2006 and the biggest yearly fall was 3.3 in 2017. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2015 to 2024 there is no clear straight-line trend: a straight line explains 2% of the movement over 10 observed years, so the value is moving around more than it is heading anywhere.

How it compares
In 2024, Oman had the 144th highest value of the 208 economies reporting that year. Higher is not always better: for some indicators the lowest value is the one to aim for. See the full ranking.

What this measures
Incidence of tuberculosis is the estimated number of new and relapse tuberculosis cases arising in a given year, expressed as the rate per 100,000 population. All forms of TB are included, including cases in people living with HIV. Estimates for all years are recalculated as new information becomes available and techniques are refined, so they may differ from those published previously.
Limitations: The limited availability of data on health status is a major constraint in assessing the health situation in developing countries. Surveillance data are lacking for many major public health concerns. Estimates of prevalence and incidence are available for some diseases but are often unreliable and incomplete. National health authorities differ widely in capacity and willingness to collect or report information. To compensate for this and improve reliability and international comparability, the World Health Organization (WHO) prepares estimates in accordance with epidemiological models and statistical standards. Uncertainty bounds for the incidence are available at http://data.worldbank.org
Regional and income-group figures are computed by the World Bank as a weighted average.
