Seychelles's secure Internet servers (per 1 million people) was 139,583 in 2024, the latest year in the World Bank's World Development Indicators. That is up 35,323% from 394.05 in 2014 (79.86% a year on average, compounded).

What the numbers say
In 2024, Seychelles' secure Internet servers (per 1 million people) rose 86,976 on 2023 (from 52,608 to 139,583).
Across the 13 yearly changes before that (2011 to 2023), the average change was +4,042 and a typical year strayed about 69,441 from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 1.2 standard deviations above that average, so it was larger than a typical year, though not out of the range seen before.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was 124,244 in 2017 and the biggest yearly fall was 167,837 in 2019. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2015 to 2024 there is no clear straight-line trend: a straight line explains less than 1% of the movement over 10 observed years, so the value is moving around more than it is heading anywhere.

How it compares
In 2024, Seychelles had the 12th highest value of the 214 economies reporting that year. Higher is not always better: for some indicators the lowest value is the one to aim for. See the full ranking.

What this measures
The number of distinct, publicly-trusted TLS/SSL certificates found in the Netcraft Secure Server Survey (by hosting country), per 1 million people.
Limitations: Netcraft only visits sites on the standard HTTPS port, 443. Whilst it is possible to run an HTTPS server on a different port (using a URL like https://example.com:7000) this behaviour is quite rare on public websites. For example, usual ports are often used for administrative interfaces and other services not intended for the general public. Netcraft tries to visit every public secure website. Note that the survey does not include secure mail servers (SMTP) or intranet sites. So the final number of certificates for each certificate authority will be lower than the total number of server certificates sold by that authority.
Regional and income-group figures are computed by the World Bank as a weighted average.
