Yearly data from 2000 to 2025, from the World Bank.
Malta's industry, including construction, value added per worker (constant 2015 US$) was US$35,011 in 2025, the latest year in the World Bank's World Development Indicators. That is up 2.58% from US$34,129 in 2015 (0.26% a year on average, compounded).
| Value | Year | |
|---|---|---|
| Latest | US$35,011 | 2025 |
| Five years earlier | US$33,663 | 2020 |
| Ten years earlier | US$34,129 | 2015 |
| Highest | US$36,418 | 2018 |
| Lowest | US$27,233 | 2001 |
| Average since 2016 | US$34,773 | 2016–2025 |
| First recorded | US$29,444 | 2000 |
Over five years it is up 4% from US$33,663 in 2020 (0.79% a year on average, compounded). Since 2000 it is up 18.91% from US$29,444 in 2000 (0.7% a year on average, compounded).
In 2025, Malta's industry, including construction, value added per worker (constant 2015 US$) fell US$124.32 on 2024 (from US$35,135 to US$35,011).
Across the 24 yearly changes before that (2001 to 2024), the average change was +US$237.13 and a typical year strayed about US$1,664 from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 0.2 standard deviations below that average, so it was an ordinary year: it sits within the range of normal year-to-year movement.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was US$3,062 in 2003 and the biggest yearly fall was US$2,972 in 2009. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2016 to 2025 there is no clear straight-line trend: a straight line explains 2% of the movement over 10 observed years, so the value is moving around more than it is heading anywhere.
Worked out from the yearly values above. How the checks work: standard deviation, z-scores and straight-line trends.
In 2025, Malta had the 46th highest value of the 150 economies reporting that year. Higher is not always better: for some indicators the lowest value is the one to aim for. See the full ranking.

Industry (including construction) corresponds to ISIC (Rev.4) divisions 05-43. It is comprised of mining, manufacturing, construction, electricity, water, and gas industries. Value added is the contribution to the economy by a producer or an industry or an institutional sector, which is estimated by the total value of output produced and deducting the total value of intermediate consumption of goods and services used to produce that output. The core indicator has been divided by the number of workers in this sector to derive a measure of labor productivity. This indicator is expressed in constant prices, meaning the series has been adjusted to account for price changes over time. The reference year for this adjustment is 2015. This indicator is expressed in United States dollars.
Limitations: For comparability of individual sectors labor productivity is estimated according to national accounts conventions. However, there are still significant limitations on the availability of reliable data. Information on consistent series of output is not easily available, especially in low- and middle-income countries, because the definition, coverage, and methodology are not always consistent across countries. For more details, see Agriculture, forestry, and fishing, value added (constant 2015 US$) [NV.AGR.TOTL.KD], Industry (including construction), value added (constant 2015 US$) [NV.IND.TOTL.KD], and Services, value added (constant 2015 US$) [NV.SRV.TOTL.KD].
Regional and income-group figures are computed by the World Bank as a weighted average.
