Malaysia's net official flows from UN agencies, UNDP (current US$) was US$325,336 in 2022, the latest year in the World Bank's World Development Indicators. That is down 33.95% from US$492,523 in 2012 (4.06% a year on average, compounded).
| Value | Year | |
|---|---|---|
| Latest | US$325,336 | 2022 |
| Five years earlier | US$244,147 | 2017 |
| Ten years earlier | US$492,523 | 2012 |
| Highest | US$3.89 million | 1980 |
| Lowest | US$63,893 | 2018 |
| Average since 2013 | US$325,619 | 2013–2022 |
| First recorded | US$1.48 million | 1968 |
Over five years it is up 33.25% from US$244,147 in 2017 (5.91% a year on average, compounded). Since 1968 it is down 78.02% from US$1.48 million in 1968 (2.77% a year on average, compounded).
In 2022, Malaysia's net official flows from UN agencies, UNDP (current US$) fell 32% on 2021 (from US$478,322 to US$325,336).
Across the 30 yearly changes before that (1992 to 2021), the average change was +8.7% and a typical year strayed about 68.2% from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 0.6 standard deviations below that average, so it was an ordinary year: it sits within the range of normal year-to-year movement.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was 246.6% in 2019 and the biggest yearly fall was 73.8% in 2018. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2013 to 2022 there is no clear straight-line trend: a straight line explains 7% of the movement over 10 observed years, so the value is moving around more than it is heading anywhere.
Worked out from the yearly values above. How the checks work: standard deviation, z-scores and straight-line trends.
In 2022, Malaysia had the 122nd highest value of the 127 economies reporting that year. Higher is not always better: for some indicators the lowest value is the one to aim for. See the full ranking.

Net official flows from UN agencies are the net disbursements of total official flows from the UN agencies. Total official flows are the sum of Official Development Assistance (ODA) or official aid and Other Official Flows (OOF) and represent the total disbursements by the official sector at large to the recipient country. Net disbursements are gross disbursements of grants and loans minus repayments of principal on earlier loans. ODA consists of loans made on concessional terms (with a grant element of at least 25 percent, calculated at a rate of discount of 10 percent) and grants made to promote economic development and welfare in countries and territories in the DAC list of ODA recipients. Official aid refers to aid flows from official donors to countries and territories in part II of the DAC list of recipients: more advanced countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the countries of the former Soviet Union, and certain advanced developing countries and territories. Official aid is provided under terms and conditions similar to those for ODA. Part II of the DAC List was abolished in 2005. The collection of data on official aid and other resource flows to Part II countries ended with 2004 data.
Regional and income-group figures are computed by the World Bank as a sum.
