What the numbers say
In 2024, Lesotho's immunization, DPT (% of children ages 12-23 months) fell 4 percentage points on 2023 (from 90% to 86%).
Across the 30 yearly changes before that (1994 to 2023), the average change was +0.13 percentage points and a typical year strayed about 2.8 percentage points from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 1.5 standard deviations below that average, so it was larger than a typical year, though not out of the range seen before.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was 8 percentage points in 1984 and the biggest yearly fall was 5 percentage points in 2001. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2015 to 2024 there is no clear straight-line trend: a straight line explains 16% of the movement over 10 observed years, so the value is moving around more than it is heading anywhere.

What this measures
Child immunization, DPT, measures the percentage of children ages 12-23 months who received DPT vaccinations before 12 months or at any time before the survey. A child is considered adequately immunized against diphtheria, pertussis (or whooping cough), and tetanus (DPT) after receiving three doses of vaccine.
Limitations: In many developing countries a lack of precise information on the size of the cohort of one-year-old children makes immunization coverage difficult to estimate from program statistics.
Regional and income-group figures are computed by the World Bank as a weighted average.
