Yearly data from 2010 to 2024, from the World Bank.
Eritrea's secure Internet servers was 7 in 2024, the latest year in the World Bank's World Development Indicators. That is up 133.33% from 3 in 2019 (18.47% a year on average, compounded).
| Value | Year | |
|---|---|---|
| Latest | 7 | 2024 |
| Five years earlier | 3 | 2019 |
| Highest | 7 | 2024 |
| Lowest | 0 | 2012 |
| Average since 2015 | 2.1 | 2015–2024 |
| First recorded | 1 | 2010 |
Over five years it is up 133.33% from 3 in 2019 (18.47% a year on average, compounded). Since 2010 it is up 600% from 1 in 2010 (14.91% a year on average, compounded). The World Bank has no value for 1 of the years in between; the chart leaves those gaps open rather than joining across them.
In 2024, Eritrea's secure Internet servers rose 6 on 2023 (from 1 to 7).
Across the 11 yearly changes before that (2011 to 2023), the average change was +0 and a typical year strayed about 1 from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 6.0 standard deviations above that average, so it was unusually large compared with the rest of the record.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was 6 in 2024 and the biggest yearly fall was 2 in 2023. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2015 to 2024 the straight-line trend is upward, about 0.55 a year. A straight line explains 58% of the movement over 10 observed years.
Worked out from the yearly values above. How the checks work: standard deviation, z-scores and straight-line trends.
In 2024, Eritrea had the 213th highest value of the 214 economies reporting that year. Higher is not always better: for some indicators the lowest value is the one to aim for. See the full ranking.
The number of distinct, publicly-trusted TLS/SSL certificates found in the Netcraft Secure Server Survey (by hosting country).
Limitations: Netcraft only visits sites on the standard HTTPS port, 443. Whilst it is possible to run an HTTPS server on a different port (using a URL like https://example.com:7000) this behaviour is quite rare on public websites. For example, usual ports are often used for administrative interfaces and other services not intended for the general public. Netcraft tries to visit every public secure website. Note that the survey does not include secure mail servers (SMTP) or intranet sites. So the final number of certificates for each certificate authority will be lower than the total number of server certificates sold by that authority.
Regional and income-group figures are computed by the World Bank as a sum.
