Yearly data from 2010 to 2024, from the World Bank.
Austria's secure Internet servers (per 1 million people) was 47,132 in 2024, the latest year in the World Bank's World Development Indicators. That is up 1,910% from 2,345 in 2014 (34.99% a year on average, compounded).
| Value | Year | |
|---|---|---|
| Latest | 47,132 | 2024 |
| Five years earlier | 26,298 | 2019 |
| Ten years earlier | 2,345 | 2014 |
| Highest | 47,132 | 2024 |
| Lowest | 690.15 | 2010 |
| Average since 2015 | 26,050 | 2015–2024 |
| First recorded | 690.15 | 2010 |
Over five years it is up 79.22% from 26,298 in 2019 (12.38% a year on average, compounded). Since 2010 it is up 6,729% from 690.15 in 2010 (35.22% a year on average, compounded).
In 2024, Austria's secure Internet servers (per 1 million people) rose 4,851 on 2023 (from 42,281 to 47,132).
Across the 13 yearly changes before that (2011 to 2023), the average change was +3,199 and a typical year strayed about 3,612 from that (the standard deviation). This year's change was 0.5 standard deviations above that average, so it was an ordinary year: it sits within the range of normal year-to-year movement.
On record, the biggest yearly rise was 9,593 in 2019 and the biggest yearly fall was 230.8 in 2022. The numbers show how large and when, not why; for the cause, look at what happened in that country in those years.
From 2015 to 2024 the straight-line trend is upward, about 5,446 a year. A straight line explains 95% of the movement over 10 observed years.
Worked out from the yearly values above. How the checks work: standard deviation, z-scores and straight-line trends.
In 2024, Austria had the 27th highest value of the 214 economies reporting that year. Higher is not always better: for some indicators the lowest value is the one to aim for. See the full ranking.

The number of distinct, publicly-trusted TLS/SSL certificates found in the Netcraft Secure Server Survey (by hosting country), per 1 million people.
Limitations: Netcraft only visits sites on the standard HTTPS port, 443. Whilst it is possible to run an HTTPS server on a different port (using a URL like https://example.com:7000) this behaviour is quite rare on public websites. For example, usual ports are often used for administrative interfaces and other services not intended for the general public. Netcraft tries to visit every public secure website. Note that the survey does not include secure mail servers (SMTP) or intranet sites. So the final number of certificates for each certificate authority will be lower than the total number of server certificates sold by that authority.
Regional and income-group figures are computed by the World Bank as a weighted average.
